Babymoon!

We were able to spend last weekend in Chicago on a mini babymoon! The Bean enjoyed the getaway almost as much as we did.
And yes, Easten, the bean met the bean.
Our hotel was beautiful and they switched our room so we could have a view!
Unfortunately, Chicago hasn't learned that we take it one holiday at a time. But we did get to see them unwrapping the giant Christmas tree.

Belly pic to come, Easten.

This post will try to capture some of the new experiences enjoyed(we think) by the Bean. Let's not waste any time. When Emma decided to take a relaxing bath, she felt a flurry of activity that caught her off guard. We are not sure what to make if this, but we think it is best to conclude that the bean has a strong emotion toward warm water. That said, he thinks warm water is either good or bad just based on the fact that he is male and not given to complex emotions. Let's talk about another event that the bean most definitely had a good emotion toward. We went to the grand opening of Chic fil a and waited in line for a whopping 45 minutes. Not to worry, the bean's appetite was soon satisfied when his mom ate two large chicken sandwiches and a milk shake. He just needed to refuel so he could give Mommy a solid kick to the womb!

A very healthy...

A bubbly, wonderful, healthy, little kicky boy :) Who loves his hands by his face (that is the little ball on top of his forehead, and the little ball by his mouth in the second picture (his shoulder looks detached, and he is facing down...so cute once you get it :))))

The bean sprouts

Well we saw our final viewing of the bean before she or he makes their big appearance into the world. After a tiring ultrasound the bean was yawning and sucking (possibly a finger) in hopes to get a snooze before the next big activity. The first picture is a side view of the full bean, the second a little side view of our cute little bean's skeleton head and the last is the bean looking at you (turn your head to the left and he or she will be peeking right back at you.)

Until next time! The bean loves you all already.

18 Weeks!

Watch Bean Grow! Our baby definitely has a mind of its own. Emma had her third doctor's appointment. The doctor had some difficulty getting the baby's heartbeat because the bean was moving so much. One thing for sure is that our baby won't let a mere doctor's visit interrupt a good workout. When the doctor was finally able to get a read, the heart beat was 180 beats per minute! At our fourth appointment, our little "Mexican jumping bean" had a heart rate of 136 bpm. We agreed on some baby names that we are very excited about. "Boppy" was suggested out of an attempt by [insert name] to be funny. It was not approved. Emma and Jillian have been exchanging their feelings about pregnancy at a newly discovered pool in town. The Bean likes hangin' out with Mommy, Auntie and Dot.

13 Weeks!!

Emma's belly is larger than normal these days. No, eating McDoubles every meal is not our plan to save money in this economy--not yet anyway. Actually, we are expecting a baby on January 6, 2011! It has been 13 weeks already and the fact that we will be having a baby is so exciting and also very humbling. We are so very thankful to God for this wonderful blessing in our lives. "The bean" is what we have been calling our baby. That is all for now. Stay tuned.
